Reconstruction project

In 2022, a historic house with a rich history and in a state of disrepair was purchased from the Roman Catholic parish in Římov by The Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter. The aim of the restoration of the rectory is to restore the house to its original purpose so that it can continue to serve as a parish centre and pilgrimage site. Since 2019, the building has been permanently entrusted to the administration of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter.

The project includes a hall inside the rectory to provide a place for parishoners to meet and hear educational talks from the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter. Accommodation for a community of three priests is also planned.

An attic conversion to provide an area for pilgrims who come to Římov seeking spiritual renewal is also included in the project.

A chapel dedicated to St. John of Nepomuk extending from the hall on the ground floor is planned in the final phase of the project.

The reconstruction plan is divided into the following stages:

1. Reconstruction of the existing building with a total estimated cost of approximately CZK 34,000,000 (≈ USD 1,400,000, including VAT).

a) Structural stabilization (CZK 2,500,000 / ≈ USD 100,000).
b) Repair of the deteriorated roof structure, including roofing and preparation for the attic conversion (CZK 7,500,000 / ≈ USD 310,000).
c) Remaining works – primarily the construction of a hall, office, kitchen, and sanitary facilities on the ground floor; apartments for priests with guest rooms on the first floor; and eight guest rooms in the attic, including heating, electrical wiring, and sewage systems (CZK 25,000,000 / ≈ USD 1,030,000).

– This part of the project may, if necessary, be divided into smaller sub-stages.

We plan to cover the total budget of CZK 35,000,000 (≈ USD 1,440,000) which is estimated on the basis of the construction documentation, with an estimated CZK 12,000,000 (≈ USD 490,000) from state subsidies and CZK 7,000,000 (≈ USD 285,000) from our own resources. This leaves approximately CZK 16,000,000 (≈ USD 665,000) remaining needed for the complete implementation of the first stage.
